Sports Awards

Last week we celebrated the success of our top sporting students at our annual Sports Awards.

Our students participate in a wide range of sports, many to national levels, and we wish to acknowledge all of our staff members, parents and volunteers who give their time to allow our students the opportunities to participate in their chosen sport.

Congratulations to all the award winners!

Our Elite Awards recipients are:
Sports Boy of the Year – Devlin Langton
Sports Girl of the Year – Grace Duncan
Junior Sports Girl of the Year – Maia Basile
Junior Sports Boy of the Year – Delamare Langton
Bob Addison Cup – For Excellence in an Individual Sport, Female – Alex Rawlinson (Cycling)
Crowther Cup – For Excellence in an Individual Sport, Male – Calum Stewart (Beach Volleyball)
Glen Jackson Supreme Service to Sport Award – Charlie Minshall (Volleyball)

Bay of Plenty Secondary Schools 7’s Tournament

Wednesday 25th October, four teams of students went to Paengaroa on the bus to play a full day of sevens – junior and senior girls, junior and senior boys!

A big thanks to Jeff, Matua Arden, James and Miss King who coached and mentored the kids leading up to the tournament and on the day.

Paradise 7s Tournament at Blake Park

Some of our wahine sevens players were given the amazing opportunity of being involved in a Paradise 7s tournament at Blake Park on Thursday 26th and Friday 27th October.

They played alongside U13’s, U16’s, developing women players and the Black Ferns!

Thanks to James Henderson and Nic King for making this opportunity happen for our wahine players.

 

NZ Junior Indoor Volleyball Squad

NZ Junior Mens Indoor Volleyball squad

Massive Congratulations to Ōtūmoetai Colleges Calum Stewart and & Aidan Roberts for making the NZ Junior Mens Indoor Volleyball squad!
The boys have made a strong 16 man squad that will be narrowed down to 12 players who will head to Asian Champs.

New Zealand Junior Women’s Indoor Development Squad 2024

A massive congratulations to Abby Gilchrist for making the New Zealand Junior Women’s Indoor Development Squad 2024!

Manawahe Multisport Race

Our first two teams ventured off into the bush to compete in the Manawahe Multisport Race on Tuesday 24th October!

Congrats to Maric Henderson, Cooper Chapman-Taylor, Ella Wilce and Paquita Newman for giving this event a go and exploring around the private farm in Manawahe.

 

Sports Facility Bookings – Summer 2023/24

Ōtūmoetai College will not be taking any further external bookings for all sports facilities between the following dates, Friday 8th December – Friday 2nd February.

Bookings will resume when school reopens for Term 1, 2024 on Thursday 1st February.
