2023 North Island Junior Secondary School Volleyball Championships
The 2023 North Island Junior Secondary School Volleyball Championships was held in Takanini, Auckland at the amazing Bruce Pulman arena.
The Junior A Girls finished 9th in Div 1, after crashing out of the top 8. They pulled themselves back together to win their 9/10th playoff.
The Junior B Girls finished 2nd in Div 2, they played a very amped up Tarawera College in their final. The girls had an incredible tournament, coached by ex student Mel Sinclair.
For the two Boys teams this was their first big away tournament, so there was a lot of learning going on during the week.

Volleyball BOPSS Girls Development Tournament – Tauranga

Volleyball BOPSS Development Tournament
Thursday 23rd November and Friday 24th November

We had three girls’ teams compete – our Year 9A, Junior C and Year 9B.

After a tough but very enjoyable two days of competition, our Year 9A girls were tied and on points countback, came second by 1 point overall. An amazing achievement, considering Matamata College Junior A team were in the tournament and they won the Waikato Junior SS Champs.

Well done to our Junior C and Year 9B girls for competing hard in every match and always having fun. It was a vibrant, colourful and extremely cheerful vibe to be around.

Volleyball BOPSS Boys Development Tournament – Tauranga

Volleyball BOPSS Development Tournament
Thursday 23rd November and Friday 24th November

We had two boys’ teams competing – our Year 10B and Year 9B.

After two long days of competing against strong oppositions, the talented Aquinas Boys Junior A team and a couple of teams out of our region – Gisborne Boys Y9 and Matamata College Boys, our Year 10B boys finished 3rd over all… whoop whoop!

We have to mention the battle between our two teams – after both winning a set each, the 3rd set didn’t disappoint, with the Year 10B winning by the smallest of margins, 15-13. Well done to the Year 9B for giving their all in every game!

BOPSS Ultimate Frisbee Junior Champs

On Monday 27 November our two Ultimate Frisbee teams had a great day at the BOPSS Junior Champs at Waipuna Park. Both teams ended up playing each other in the 7th/8th placing game – fantastic sportsmanship from both teams, a joy to watch!
