School Swimming Sports
On Friday 10th May we had our School Swimming Sports and a special well-done to the number of Year 9s that competed. It was exciting to have multiple age group heats! Thanks to all those people involved. Fantastic swimmers and a really positive morning for our tauira. Attached are the champion swimmers and photos from our student photographer.
New Zealand Rhythmic Gymnastics Team
Congratulations to Andrejka Bennett (Year 10) who trialed in March and was chosen to represent New Zealand at the Singapore Open in late May. She will be competing in Rhythmic Gymnastics in the 13-15 years old category. There are only 17 rhythmic gymnasts from New Zealand heading to Singapore and Andrejka is the only one from Bay of Plenty to make the NZ team. Good luck Andrejka.
Netball Legends
Many thanks to the following umpires for officiating at our Grading Games on Friday 10th and Saturday 11th.
Indoor Bowls
On the 17th of April, Anae Garratt was selected to represent the Tauranga Indoor Bowls Association (TIBA) Juniors squad. They went to Otorohanga to play Taranaki and King Country in the Ross Arndt Trophy. At the tournament, Anae won all 6 of her games – the only competitor to do so. Tauranga won the trophy.
As a result of her performance in Otorohanga, the following weekend Anae was selected for the TIBA Senior B squad for the Drifters Trophy (which they won) played between the Tauranga, Manukau, and Counties associations; and the annual Tauranga vs Auckland fixture the fortnight after that..
Finally, Anae competed in the Tauranga Indoor Bowls Association Juniors Singles competition on the 5th of May, where she placed second overall in the city, and earned an invitation to the New Zealand Junior Singles Finals in Auckland in September.
