New Zealand Secondary Schools Squash Championships
Ōtūmoetai College Girls Squash team secure bronze medal in National Secondary Schools Championships
Our girls team consisting of Erin Wyllie, Gen Kennerley, Grace Spencer, Abby Devoy and Emily Finlay travelled down to Wellington to defend their national title over the weekend. After early round wins over Sacred Heart (New Plymouth), Whangarei Girls High School and Palmerston North Girls High School, our girls played local rivals Tauranga Girls College to see who would contest the final.
TGC were too strong this time, winning 4-1.
On the Sunday, the team played Westlake Girls High School in the 3rd and 4th playoff – our girls came through this tie 3-2, to claim the bronze medal.
Special congratulations to Erin Wyllie on her selection in the NZ Secondary Schools team, to play Australia later this month.
Thank you also to David Kennerley and Anna Devoy who supported the team as team managers.
Bay of Plenty Secondary School Junior Badminton Championships
Ōtūmoetai College qualified four teams for the BOP Junior Badminton Championships this year. Over 150 players gained qualification for the championships, so it was a very tough competition. After a full day of exceptional performances and great sportsmanship, we were very pleased to gain top two results for all four teams.
