Trip to Weta Workshop for EEVT

The Level 1 and 2 students taking Entertainment and Events Technologies were lucky enough to visit WETA Studio in Auckland.

They took part in the Unleashed fantastical film FX experience seeing how props, costumes and sets are constructed. We even learnt that on the set of  ‘Age of the Ever Clan’ they used bones from KFC to build tents!

We then did a creative workshop – Intro to scars and scrapes. The students really enjoyed their experience and as you can see in the pictures – produced some great effects.

School Value – Kia Kaha – Stand Strong

As a kura we are focusing on the school value of Kia Kaha – Stand Strong which also ties in nicely to our Te Muka Miro model, focusing on Empower.

This is also a great opportunity for our junior students to demonstrate their engagement with the values card with a targeted focus on this one value.

For example;
– wearing the correct school uniform and doing so with pride
– being present in all classes and arriving on time
– having 100% attendance over the two weeks
– trying something new and stepping out of your comfort zone

Autumn Gratitude – Takitumu Homework Hub

As the leaves turn golden, we are reminded of the warmth of community. A huge meitaki ma’ata to @GOODNEIGHBOUR Tauranga for their ongoing support of our Takitumu Homework Hub at Ōtūmoetai College.

Every week, your generous food donations help nourish our students, ensuring they can focus on learning and growing. Your kindness is a cornerstone of our Pasifika school community, and we are truly grateful!
