NZ Secondary Schools Squash Nationals

🥉 BRONZE FOR OUR GIRLS! 🥳

ŌTC Girls Squash team is back from the NZ Secondary Schools Nationals in Wellington — and they’re bringing home a bronze medal! 💪

🔥 The squad dominated their final match, crushing Macleans College 5-0 to secure 3rd place in the country!

👏 Special shoutout to Erin Wyllie, who led the team like a champ and has been selected to represent New Zealand vs Australia later this year 🇳🇿🇦🇺!
💫 And how good is this — Year 10 star Abby Devoy was named as a non-travelling reserve for the NZSS team!

🙌 Big ups to the full squad: Erin, Abby, Claudia Westrupp, Kaida Logan, and Ruby Thompson — you’ve made us proud! 💚💙

Waikato Bay of Plenty Secondary Schools Cross Country Champs

🏃‍♀️🔥 Cross Country Success! 🔥🏃‍♂️

On Thursday 7th August our distance runners hit Waipuna Park for the Waikato Bay of Plenty Secondary Schools Cross Country Champs – and they absolutely delivered! 💪💚

🌟 Year 9 Girls 3000m
🏅 Daisy dominated the field with a powerful run to take 1st place (11:23), with Mackenzie not far behind claiming 2nd (11:30) – a 1-2 punch for ŌTC! 🥇🥈

🌟 Junior Girls 3000m
👏 Kate stormed home to a 2nd place podium finish (11:58), with Ava showing serious grit to secure 4th (12.41).

🌟 Senior Girls 4000m
⚡ A lightning-fast race saw Sophie finish strong in 4th (16:51), closely followed by Maia in 5th (16:55) – a fierce effort from both girls!

🌟 Junior Boys 4000m
🙌 Huge kudos to Hugo, taking on the biggest age group and finishing in 37th (18:04) – a solid run in a stacked field!

🌟 Senior Boys 6000m
🔥 Charlie dug deep and improved on his Bay Champs placing to finish 25th (25:28) over a tough 6km course – awesome progress!

Bay of Plenty Secondary Schools Junior Badminton Champs

🎉 BOP Junior Badminton Champs Recap! 🏸🔥

What an epic day at QEYC on Wednesday for our ŌTC Junior Badminton crews! We had 6 teams qualify for the Bay of Plenty Junior Champs — and they did us proud 💚💥

🏅 3 teams came away with medals, with our Division 3 Boys having to battle it out against… the other OTC Division 3 Boys team for 3rd and 4th! Talk about internal rivalry 😅💪

Huge props to our Division One teams who faced intense matches against top-tier opponents – nothing but respect for the grind 🙏💪

Get2Go Challenge

Our Year 9 & 10 teams smashed it at the Get2Go Challenge in Rotorua on Monday 4th August! 🙌

Braving the chilly weather, eight Year 9 students and eight Year 10 students took on orienteering, mountain biking, kayaking (including the chaos of fitting three people in an inflatable kayak 😅) and rock climbing – and absolutely crushed it!

Results:
Year 10s – 4th place!
Year 9s – 8th place!

Huge effort from everyone – you made us proud! 💪

BOPSS Junior Basketball Champs

🔥🏀 JUNIOR BALLERS ON SHOW! 🏀🔥

On Friday 1st August, ŌTC hit the courts at the BOPSS Junior Basketball Champs at Mercury Baypark with 2 Junior Boys teams and a Junior Girls team!

💥 Fast plays, fierce defense, and epic team spirit were on full display as our players faced schools from all across the Bay!

🏆 HUGE shoutout to our Junior Boys B team who went UNDEFEATED and took out the Division 3 title! Let’s gooo!

💪 Our Junior A boys had some nail-biters—grinding out a win against Papamoa, but going down in tight games to Taupo and Rotorua.

🙌 And how good was it to have our Junior Girls team flying the ŌTC flag! Despite some tough results, they showed courage and potential all day. With Coach Henry at the helm, the future is bright for these rising stars.
