Evolocity – Electric Vehicle Competition
Harman Singh Kalsi and Conrad McIntyre, both year 13 Technology hard materials students, entered the 2025 Evolocity competition electric vehicle build challenge.
This is a part of their L3 Technology assessment, with their brief being to design and build a car that met the specifications of the standard class they entered. The race day was held at Kartsport in Hamilton.
Unfortunately some wet conditions limited the number of drag races held and the boys experienced some technical issues with the drivetrain, which they were able to rectify.
While this did affect their overall placing, they still managed to win the overall performance category, which was the combination of the drag race, timed slalom course and an energy efficiency run.
This was a good effort and recognition of the many hours invested into designing and building the car.
Both Conrad and Harman were excellent ambassadors for Ōtūmoetai College. Well done.
