 New Zealand Football U17 Team

Huge congratulations to Grace Duncan who has been selected in the New Zealand Football U17 Squad for the FIFA World Cup later this month in Morocco.

Good luck Grace!

Gymnastics NZ Nationals

Huge congratulations to our talented OTC gymnasts who competed at the Gymnastics NZ Nationals held in Auckland during the first week of the school holidays! 🤸‍♀️

👏 Andrejka Bennett, Adelle King, Elisa Edwards, and Mila Edwards represented us with amazing skill and dedication.

🌟 Mila Edwards (Level 6) – 3rd place in Ball 🥉
🌟 Andrejka Bennett (Level 9) – 3rd in Hoop 🥉 and 4th in Clubs
🌟 Elisa Edwards (Level 9) – 2nd Overall 🥈, 1st in Ball 🥇, 2nd in Ribbon 🥈, and 4th in Hoop

Incredible results, girls – we’re so proud of your hard work and success!

2025 Geneva Wellbeing NZ Road Relay Champs

🏃‍♀️ Huge congrats to our awesome OTC girls — Mackenzie Hetherington, Ava Bryant, Kate Faitl, and Daisy Ruthe — who represented Athletics Tauranga at the 2025 Geneva Wellbeing NZ Road Relay Champs in Feilding last weekend!

Racing in the U16 four-person relay, they absolutely smashed it 🥇 taking GOLD ahead of Pakuranga (2nd) and Feilding Moa (3rd).

They conquered the tough 16.8km course (4.2km each) in 1:06:16 — saying afterwards it felt “more like cross country than a road race!”

🔥 To make it even better… the girls ran the 2nd, 3rd, and 4th fastest times in the whole girls’ relay AND crossed the finish line ahead of the 3rd boys’ team (both races started together!).

So proud of you all 💚

Updating Data Sharing

Kia ora parents, caregivers and whānau,

Schools across the country are moving to a new national sports management platform called Sporty (SportsGround). This system will be used to enter school sports teams and individual student-athletes into their respective competitions and events.

Sporty is already widely used by schools and sporting bodies across Aotearoa, including those in Wellington and Auckland. It integrates seamlessly with the KAMAR student management system, allowing schools to efficiently manage sports registrations while ensuring data security and accuracy.

As part of this transition, we are required to share minimal student information with Sporty. This includes:

  • Full name
  • Date of birth
  • Gender

These details will only be used for students who participate in sports events or competitions.

If you do not wish for your child’s details to be shared with Sporty, please log into school bridge with your caregiver account and follow the simple instructions provided in the following link to adjust your data-sharing settings.

Updating Data Sharing

We kindly ask that this is completed by 3:00pm on Monday, 13th October.

Should you have any questions or wish to discuss this further, please feel free to contact me directly.

Darts

Well done to the three Ōtūmoetai College darts players (staff and students) who played at a local tournament and finished with a 50% win rate over the entire tournament.

They had a bit of a rough draw, playing against New Zealand Youth representatives and players who play on the DPNZ tour.

Matua Arden “Average at best’ Carter and Lachlan ‘Sharpshooter’ Shefferd scored very well, with Neeve ” Never misses’ Wilson hitting clutch doubles to keep them in the tournament on various occasions.

It was a great day of matches and darts, with another tournament later in the year on the cards.
