Senior Prems Basketball: Tip Off Tournament Recap

Our Senior Prems boys basketball team hit the courts at the pre-season Tip Off tournament in Rotorua from April 25th to 27th, showcasing their skills and determination in a series of intense matchups.

Game 1: The tournament started with a tough battle against Bethlehem College. Despite trailing early, our team rallied back, ultimately falling short with a final score of 49-53.

Game 2: Facing Trident High School, our boys came out strong, dominating the court and securing a solid 59-29 victory.

Game 3: Against Rotorua Boys High School Div2, it was a slow start once again. However, our team found their rhythm and clinched a hard-fought 51-38 win.

Final Pool Game: With a spot in the semi-finals on the line, our squad battled it out against Kristin High School Premier team from Auckland. Though the victory slipped through our fingers, losing by 3 points, our boys fought valiantly, showcasing their skill and determination till the very end!.

Impressive Defence in 5th/6th Placing Game: When it comes to defence, our boys are simply unstoppable! Just ask Hamilton Boys High School Senior Development team, who fell victim to our impenetrable defence, scoring ZERO points in the third quarter! Final score: 55-33, sealing our pre-season with a resounding victory!

Player Spotlight: A round of applause for Luca Henderson, who showcased his scoring prowess throughout the tournament, averaging 16.2 points per game and claiming the highest individual score with 26 points.

Upcoming Challenges: As the local Premier league draws near, our team is gearing up for an exciting rematch against Bethlehem College. It’s a chance for redemption and a promising start to the season ahead.

With each game, our Senior Prems continue to grow and evolve. Stay tuned for more updates as the season unfolds!

Oceania Road Cycling Championship

Last month Alex Rawlinson raced in Brisbane for the Oceania Road Cycling Championship, winning bronze in the road race (far right in image) and coming 4th in the time trial.

She’s just competed in the Age Group National Championships in Cambridge, winning both the U19 road race and time trial. The road race combined the U19’s with the elites, with Alex coming 3rd overall, podiuming with two of NZ’s strongest female riders.
Amazing results! Well done Alex!
