Te Pou Tū Ki Te Rangi – Sports Exchange with Hillcrest High School
Te Pou Tū Ki Te Rangi was established in 2024 and was created to acknowledge the initiation of an annual sports exchange between Hillcrest High School (Hamilton) and Ōtūmoetai College.
This exchange is intended to be a long lasting relationship between the two schools and a taonga to acknowledge the overall winning school was deemed befitting of the occasion.
On Monday 19th August the two schools played badminton, basketball, football, hockey, netball and rugby, with 400+ student athletes competing.
Congratulations to Ōtūmoetai College, winners of the inaugural sports exchange, winning nine out of the 17 points available.
A special thank you to the student athletes from Hillcrest High School and Ōtūmoetai College. Your sportsmanship throughout the day was outstanding and a testament to your school values!
Bay of Plenty Secondary School Senior Badminton Championships
Ōtūmoetai College qualified five teams for the BOP Senior Badminton Championships this year. Over 170 players qualified for the championships, so it was a very tough competition, particularly as many schools were using this as a warm-up for the National Secondary Schools in two weeks. All our teams played exceptionally well, and we came away with three placings. Well done to all the teams that made it to the finals.
