Senior Student Involvement in AIMS Games – Important Information
Any senior student wishing to be involved in the AIMS Games (1–5 September inclusive) in an officiating or voluntary capacity must complete a permission form by Friday, 16 August. This form must include parental approval and can be collected from the Deans Room.
As a school, we value the contribution of our senior students to community-minded events and appreciate their willingness to support. However, we remain firmly focused on their academic success.
Key Expectations:
- Internal Exams (5–12 September) are a critical priority for senior students.
- Students involved in Winter Tournament Week (26–30 August) are not eligible for a second week of absence to attend AIMS.
- For other students, participation in AIMS Games will only be approved if they have demonstrated an attendance rate of 85% or higher this term.
- All approved students must ensure they are fully prepared for mock exams and maintain their academic progress.
We appreciate your support in helping our students balance their responsibilities while contributing positively to our wider school community.

Ōtūmoetai College Rowing Car Wash Fundraiser – 16 August
Ōtūmoetai College rowers had a successful day at their car wash fundraiser last Saturday and Sunday.
The team, aiming to represent the school at the 2026 Maadi Cup in Twizel, was met with beautiful sunny weather, which helped bring out a great turnout from the community.
Rowers and whānau worked tirelessly together, demonstrating impressive teamwork and enthusiasm to wash a steady stream of cars. This strong team spirit was a key factor in the event’s success. Families, friends, and local residents showed up to get their cars sparkling clean, all while contributing to a great cause. The generosity of the community was deeply appreciated by all the athletes and their whānau.
For those who missed out, the team is hosting another car wash fundraiser on August 16th. Come on down to support the rowers as they continue to work hard toward their goal of competing at Maadi Cup 2026.
Subject Selection – Year 11 & 12 Career Appointments
Coming up this term is Subject Selection. Mr McCreary has visited Year 11 & Year 12 Form Classes and is the person for your child to contact for a discussion about 2026.
There is a poster on the wall of your child’s Form Class explaining how to make an appointment. Basically, students can send an email to jmccreary@otc.school.nz asking for a time to meet and include two subjects they are able to be out of for around 30 minutes. They will then be sent a time that suits.
Key advice is to continue (or start) subjects they enjoy and are good at.
Instructions on subject selection requirements and how to select them online will be emailed on Monday 11th.
