Variety Show a Huge Success!
Last Tuesday, the Creative Arts Committee hosted a spectacular Variety Show that captivated the audience from start to finish. The evening was expertly emceed by Creative Arts student leader Connor Rowan, with fantastic energy provided by Year 12 committee members Aadit Tandon and Ollie Joyce.
The show featured a range of strong performances, but a few standouts truly stole the show: the Year 10 drama class’s hilarious skit, “6 Reasons Why Not to Be in a Play”; a pitch-perfect performance by the barbershop quartet; and a powerful final encore featuring all performers.
A special thank you to Cait Perry for her incredible photography, which beautifully captured the night’s magic. We also extended a huge shout-out to the SVA volunteers who cooked sausages in the rain and provided invaluable support throughout the evening.

Yia Awards
On Thursday 21st August, 50 Ōtūmoetai College students competed in the 2025 Young innovators Awards held at Classic Flyers – an event run by Priority One here in Tauranga.
The students combined with 200 students from other schools around the Bay of Plenty to design new ideas for our blank spaces along the waterfront. This entailed making a model of their ideas and pitching it to a bank of judges who awards prizes.
Ōtūmoetai College performed exceptionally well, taking out prizes for Collaboration and Concept Design, as well as second place overall going to Sam Reddy and Tyler Scott, and first place overall to Molly Wilkinson and Charlotte Cook.

Spanish Quiz Night Fun
We had our first Spanish Quiz Night on the 12th of August. We had lots of fun with our students and we had wonderful visitors from Tauranga Girls’ College.
They answered questions about general knowledge of Spanish speaking countries’ culture and we had dinner together.
