Academic Excellence Breakfast

It was a beautiful crisp morning at the Tauranga Yacht Club, Te Matau ‘Sulphur Point’, on Tuesday, 31 March, when we celebrated academic excellence.

With the magnificent Mount Maunganui as a backdrop, we acknowledged the Year 12 and 13 students who had their NCEA endorsed with excellence in 2025. The students each invited a significant adult in their lives to celebrate with them over breakfast.

Ōtūmoetai College acknowledges the hard work and consistent effort of these students and is proud of their high academic achievement. We also recognise the encouragement and support from home which has enabled these students to achieve their academic best and we look forward to hearing of their future successes and adventures.

Spark Tank Event

On 10 March, our Level 2 and 3 Business Studies classes attended the Young Enterprise Scheme Spark Tank event at the Cargo Shed. This event gave students the opportunity to pitch their business ideas to experienced professionals from across the Bay of Plenty.

Students received valuable, constructive feedback that will help refine and, in some cases, reshape their business concepts for the year ahead. While not every group was matched with a mentor on the day, all students benefited from expert insights, fresh perspectives, and new ideas sparked through the experience.

The event provided an excellent opportunity for students to build connections within the business community and gain confidence in their ventures.

If you are a local business professional interested in mentoring one of our student groups, we would love to hear from you. Please get in touch with Nicola Tisch at ntisch@otc.school.nz
