NZ Secondary Schools U-19 Girls Squad

Jasmine Griffith was a member of the New Zealand Secondary Schools’ U-19 girls that tested themselves against two of Asia’s rising national teams during a demanding tour of Thailand.

The squad beat the Philippines U-17 women’s national team 2-0, a team who are preparing for the AFC U-17 Women’s Asian Cup qualifiers beginning on May 1.

Two days later, the New Zealanders faced Thailand’s U-17 women’s national team, who beat Australia 3-1 at the last Asian Cup.

The match was played in 35-minute thirds and developed into a high-scoring contest, with Thailand prevailing 4-3.

The April 2026 tour also included a series of matches against teams from Thailand Women’s League Division 2, offering the players exposure to different styles and conditions.

Head coach Ryan Shiffman said the early fixtures were designed to help the squad adapt to the heat and build cohesion.

New Zealand opened with a 4-2 win over Bangkok Sports School. They followed with a 6-5 victory over Kasem Bundit University, then drew 1-1 with Phranakorn Women’s FC and beat Na Laung School 2-1.

That sequence left the team unbeaten across four matches against Thai league opposition.

Head coach Shiffman said the group had responded well to the tour’s challenges and continued to improve with each match.
