Otumoetai College Swimming Sports
The number of students participating in our school swimming sports each year has steadily declined over time. The organisation of this event requires significant resources and it has got to a point where the limited number of students involved doesn’t justify this resource.
With this in mind, we have made the decision to double up our school swimming sports with the BOP Secondary School Swimming Championships held at Baywave, going forward. This means that students will still be able compete for school trophies through the times they achieve in the BOP event.
All competitive swimmers are strongly encouraged to enter the upcoming BOP Secondary Schools event (10 March) via the School sports website or the Sports Office. For further information, please speak with the Sports Office team.

BOPSS Swimming Championships – Tuesday 10 March – Baywave Pools
- Date: Tuesday 10th March 2026
- Entries Close: Tuesday 3rd March 2025
- Venue: Baywave Pools, Tauranga
- Transport: School van
- Times: Warm-up – from 8.45am, Manager’s meeting – 9.15am, Racing starts 9.30am, finish approx. 2.30pm
- Approx Cost: $40 per Individual
- Age Groups:
- Junior – Under 14 as at January 1 2026
- Intermediate – Under 16 as at January 1 2026
- Senior – Under 19 as at January 1 2026
Each swimmer may enter a maximum of 6 individual events, and up to 2 relays
NZSS Open Water Swim – Saturday 7 March – Blue lake
NZSS Swimming Championships – TBC
