Success at the Play It Strange Song Writing Competition 2021!!

Every year, music students from Ōtūmoetai College enter the Lion Foundation Play It Strange Song Writing Competition.

This is New Zealand’s national secondary school songwriting competition, and has yielded thousands of entries from around the country over the past 15 years.

This year, once again, we can congratulate a number of our students for their success, making it to the Top 40.  The students are :

  • Angel Jackson
  • Amy Mindham
  • Zoe Russell
  • Freyja Dunsmuir
  • Megan Meroiti

Each student will be given $750 dollars to record their original song at a local recording studio, with the possibility of their song being included on the annual Play It Strange album, which is made available for free download and streaming.
