NASA Trip – 2023

Ōtūmoetai College is pleased to announce a Science trip to Orlando, Florida in October 2023.  The trip will be open to 2023 Years 11-13 students from across the school but especially to those with an interest in NASA or Science and Technology.

The 10-day trip will take in the sights of the Kennedy Space Centre and astronaut training facilities, as well as theme parks and indoor skydiving, hovercraft rides and shopping (of course!).

The Lauren Ellis Quartet

The Lauren Ellis Quartet ran a jazz workshop with music students recently.

Drummer, Lauren Ellis is an ex-Ōtūmoetai College student, she returned to New Zealand for her first tour with her Los Angeles based quartet.

Year 10 Market Day

The Year 10 Business Management half year students held a successful Market Day for the college on the 28th October. They were able to showcase all their hard work and planning in the creation of their businesses. The rain held off and tasty treats were had by all.

Awards on the day:

Most Innovative Product to Cookie Cups for their home made cookies in the shape of cups, filled with vanilla ice cream. Team members: Indi Bussenschutt, Mae Hine, Erin Wyllie, Rachael Jury.

Highest Profit to Fluff n Stuff for their home made candy floss. Team members: Nicholas Reeder, Melissa Phirun, Jayden Reynolds, Marlowe Thwaites.

Best Product to Aloco Taco for their Mexican inspired mince hard shell tacos. Team members: Sophie Rutherford, Emily Potter, Ella Oehm.

Resilience in Business award to Loaded Cookies for their ice cream and cookie combo. Team members: Alliyah Buchanan, Lydia Aldington, Ava Bastin, Kaelyn Timms.

Customer Choice to Berry Yummy for their homemade real fruit ice cream. Team members: Sharne Willcox, Rosa Sharp, Chloe McGillan, Phillipa Hurt.

Best Product Presentation to Sweet Tooth for their home made 2 layered cakes and cake pops. Team members: Kaela Kolesky, Larissa Rowe, Renee Gledhill, Sky Mills.

Teamwork award to Wacky Wedges for their loaded wedges. Team members: Chelsea Fitt, Dayna Bennett, Lorelei Feist, Hollie Murray.
