Bay of Plenty Senior Volleyball Championship

We had seven teams compete at the BOPSS Volleyball Champs – Girls A, B, C, D & Juniors / Boys A & B. Three weekends of high intensity action-packed volleyball.

Our Girls A team won their semi final 3-0 against Western Heights, with Whakatane High School edging out Bethlehem College 3-2 in the other semi-final. The final was intense and went the distance with our girls overcoming a valiant performance from Whakatane, final score, 3 sets to 2. Amazing result, well done to the 11 athletes!

Good luck to our Girls A & B teams at Nationals next week in Palmerston North!

Our Boys A team had a tough first weekend dropping out of the top 8 but they won all their games in the second weekend 3 sets to 0, and for the final weekend were back in the top 8. Losing their Q/F to the eventual champs TBC, the goal was to finish 5th.

Having lost to BC in the first weekend, it was redemption time in the 5th-8th play-off game with our boys winning 3-0 and setting up a final game against Trident where our boys won again 3-0. Awesome resilience to overcome a tough first weekend and finish the competition on a high, 5th place.

Good luck to our Boys A & B team at Nationals in Palmerston North next week.
