Ōtūmoetai College Sports Information
Kia ora students, parents/caregivers and whānau,
As mentioned in Year Level Assemblies, we as a school encourage every student to take every opportunity to get involved in sport here at Ōtūmoetai College. Whether you are keen to try something new, develop your skills, represent the school, or simply be part of a team with your friends, there truly is a place for everyone in sport at ŌTC.
To help us plan for both summer and winter sports, we ask that all students register an expression of interest by completing the short form linked below. This link will be open until Monday 16th February.
Expression of Interest Form: LINK
Once completed, the Sports Department or the relevant Teacher in Charge of Sport will be in touch in due course with further information about your chosen sport. Please note, this is simply an expression of interest so we can provide you with important updates — it is not a final commitment at this stage.
You can also visit the Ōtūmoetai College Sports Website. Under the ‘Sports Codes’ section, you will find seasonal information about the majority of sports on offer:

If you can’t find your sport listed, please don’t hesitate to contact the Sports Department at sport@otc.school.nz, and we will do what we can to help.
ŌTC Strength & Conditioning
We are very proud to offer an outstanding Strength & Conditioning programme under the guidance of our Lead Coach, James Forster. This programme plays an important role in supporting student-athletes with physical development, performance, and injury prevention.
The level of interest in the first few weeks has been incredible. Due to this strong demand, we felt it was important to provide some further clarification around some commonly asked questions.
If you are currently playing a Winter Sport, or are new to ŌTC sport, and are keen to improve your physical performance, our Strength & Conditioning (S&C) programme operates across two pathways, depending on where you are in your sporting season.
Sports Academy – Off-Season Development
Sports Academy is ŌTC’s structured off-season development programme for motivated student-athletes. Sessions focus on building strength, speed, power, and overall conditioning, while also developing sound movement patterns and supporting long-term athletic development.
This pathway is where the majority of physical development occurs between seasons and is designed to help athletes be physically prepared for the demands of school sport, both now and in the future.
If you are interested in being part of Sports Academy, please complete the registration form, see link below:

In-Season Sport-Specific Strength & Conditioning – Summer Sports
Students who are currently in-season for a summer sport may already have access to sport-specific, in-season S&C sessions. These sessions are designed to support performance and reduce injury risk during the competitive season.
The focus is on maintaining strength and power, managing fatigue and training load, targeting key physical qualities specific to each sport, and supporting athletes to remain robust throughout the school season.
If you are already attending these sessions, you do not need to complete the Sports Academy Expression of Interest form. If you are unsure which pathway applies to you, please contact our S&C Coach, James Forster (jforster@otc.school.nz).
In previous years, S&C has been offered at no direct cost to families. However, to ensure the programme remains safe, sustainable, and professionally delivered, we will be introducing a user-pays model from 2026. For more information, please use the link below.

Sports Fees & Financial Support
Sport at ŌTC operates under a user-pays model for the majority of competitions, leagues, and events. Where possible, costs are shared with families early, including any deposit requirements.
Payments can be paid in full, or a payment plan can be arranged by contacting the Fees Office: fees@otc.school.nz
For all sporting costs — including both sports fees — we are proud to offer financial support through:
- The Sports Development Fund
- Level Playing Field
For more information on our Sports Development Fund, please email Mr Ridgway: iridgway@otc.school.nz
