Our Girls A also had a fantastic campaign, finishing 4th overall and are equally excited to test themselves against the best in the country at Nationals.

New Zealand Surf Lifesaving Championships
Georgia Duske, Heidi Young and Jaime Rivers competed at the New Zealand Surf Lifesaving Championship on the 5-8th March, representing Omanu Surf Lifesaving club with competition coming from all over NZ to Ohope Beach. The sport requires all athletes to be active lifeguards to be eligible to compete.
The girls raced in multiple races, in 3-4 events per day over 4 days. Georgia claimed gold in the U15 2km run, U17 Tube Rescue and U17 Board Rescue, and took home a total of 9 medals overall. Heidi won bronze in the Surf team races and had multiple top 10 finishes in both U15 and U17 events. Jaime also raced in short and long course canoe racing in the U19 category with two 4th placings. The girls efforts contributed Omanu taking the top club award on points. Heidi is now preparing to compete in the Australian Surf Lifesaving Championship in the Gold Coast later in March.
