Coastal Combat

Orewa Beach turned up the heat last weekend at the NZ Beach Sprint Championships—and Ōtūmoetai College’s own Arthur Crimmins was right in the thick of it.

Beach Sprints are rowing like you’ve never seen it before: a 50m sprint across the sand, a 250m row through crashing surf, then straight back onto the beach for a final all-out dash to the line. Fast, furious, and unforgiving.

Taking on some of the country’s best in this high-intensity, head-to-head format, Arthur showed incredible grit, power, and “sand-speed”—bringing home an outstanding 🥇🥇🥇 and 🥈 across the weekend.

An epic effort in one of rowing’s most explosive disciplines. We can’t wait to see where this coastal journey takes you next, Arthur!

ŌTC 1st XI / Premier / Senior A teams

Congratulations to the following student athletes who have risen above the competition and earned selection into our top-tier teams — 1st XI, Premier, and Senior A — in their chosen sports.

This is a fantastic achievement that reflects your commitment, resilience, and countless hours of hard work. You’ve set the standard, and we are incredibly proud of what you’ve accomplished.

As the 2026 season begins, we wish you all the very best. Play with pride, represent your school with passion, and embrace every moment of the journey ahead.

Backing Our Teams: Thank You to Our Valued Sports Sponsors

We are incredibly grateful to Barfoot & Thompson for their support of football and volleyball; Ray White – Greg Bopf for basketball; Ray White – Mark Francis and Pak’nSave Cameron Road for rugby; Marshalls Innovation for their support of rugby and hockey; Seeka and Watts & Hughes Construction for football; and Tauranga ITM for hockey.

These partnerships play a vital role in helping our teams thrive, and we greatly appreciate the commitment these businesses show to our students and wider school community.
