Bay of Plenty Division 1 Squash Winners

Our team of four girls led by Hope Kennerley, Erin Wyllie, Grace Spencer, and Kayla Bowles have had a wonderful tournament, winning the Bay of Plenty Secondary Schools Girls Division 1 Team Squash Champs played at the Devoy Squash Centre.

The team played Mount Maunganui College in the first round winning all three matches and then played Tauranga Girls College later in the day where Grace and Hope had wins over their opposition winning the fixture 2 -1.

Congratulations to all of the girls and best wishes for the upcoming NZSS Champs.

Well Done to our Girls 1st XI Hockey Team

What a game for the 1st XI girls in the Secondary Schools Premier League final on Wednesday night. Firstly, a huge thank you to those staff members, parents and whanau who braved the weather to support the girls. They see you, they know you are there and we all really appreciate it.

The rainy weather slows the turf down which means that the running game is slower and it’s a lot harder to get shots away from the top of the circle; our two biggest strengths.  Our girls played incredibly well and dominated most parts of the field. After a 0-0 full time score the game went to a shootout and we were not successful. Well done to Bethlehem College.

Both 1st XI teams now move into the Midlands Secondary Schools Competition where they will play the top teams from Rotorua and Waikato. The girls are in Division One and travel to Rotorua next week to play Ruamata at 700pm and the boys have a home game in Division Two against Papamoa 1st XI at 7:45pm.  Abbie Johnston, Girls 1st XI Head Coach.
