Grand Opening - Barbarian Academy

On Wednesday the 10th of February we held our first Rugby Academy training session. It was a very successful beginning with a turn out of 40 players. We were positively overwhelmed by the number of rugby athletes sharing this journey with us.

All players engaged positively and enthusiastically. The trainers, coaches and managers that provided the programme were very impressed by the high level of engagement and positive attitudes demonstrated by the students.

Managing 40 players of mixed gender, age and ability is no easy feat. However, the day was an absolute success.

It's not too late to join up - see below.

Our Rugby Academy is built on developing great young human beings, from a values base and helping to develop, fitness, rugby skills, sense and confidence in a varied, fun, exciting and safe environment.

Photography Student Success

Past student Okko Kausalainen (Year 13 last year) has had his photography boards selected for the Top Art Exhibition that will travel the country throughout 2021.

There are usually only four photography boards that are chosen out of about 4,000! He has done extremely well and has also received a scholarship for his photography.

The Top Art Exhibition will arrive about the second week of May at the Tauranga Art Gallery if you would like to view.

The Teen Brain Presentation Event

Nathan Wallis, New Zealand's favourite Neuroscience Educator is coming to your Tauranga for another of his sell-out talks.  He will be presenting at Tauranga Girls’ High School on Thursday 25 Feb  2021 - 7.30-9.00pm.

Nathan's talks are very popular with parents, teachers, coaches, leaders and anyone else who is interested in learning about the workings of the brain. Nathan has a profound reputation as a lively and engaging speaker. He uses humour and plain language to condense 25 years of neuroscience research into his unique ‘tell you how it is’ style. You’ll be absolutely captivated and walk away jam-packed with more than a few “ah-ha” moments.

Nathan will share strategies with participants to achieve better relationships and better outcomes for the adolescents we work/live with.
