Win for Nextus - Young Enterprise Scheme
Nextus, a Young Enterprise Scheme (YES) business from Otumoetai College recently won the first regional challenge in the Young Enterprise National Competition. The first challenge was about product validation. Nextus was placed first for their submission out of 25 registered teams in the Bay of Plenty and took away $100 prize money.
Nextus made a prototype for their product, Rapid Reaction, a fast-paced card game where you must answer eight modern kiwiana related questions per card without hesitating or saying the sneaky list of forbidden words (such as ‘Yeah’, ‘Nah’, ‘Yes’, ‘No’, ‘Umm’, ‘Maybe’ etc.). The students received extremely positive responses through their validation process that has filled the four year 13 students with confidence that this game will be a hit!
For more information regarding this game and this team’s progress, please check out Nextus’s Instagram page @nextus.nz
Directors: Baylee Dyer, Emily Ardern, Connor Gregg and Jonathan Oosthuizen.
Recycling Used Pens
The school is a collection point for used pens (any brand) that are sent away for recycling.
There is a pen recycling jar or can in every classroom. Students can bring the used pens from home and either put them in the container or, if a bag full, can give them to their form teacher.
On behalf of the Otumoetai College Environment Committee.
