What's the deal in Business?
Over 50 of our Year 11 Business Management Students were inspired today after hearing from an enthusiastic entrepreneur, Sam Watherston from Just Blend, as he shared his experiences of his 18 month journey bringing his fruity vision into fruition. Just Blend, a Tauranga based business, produces and markets convenient, wholesome, balanced, proportioned smoothies pouches. Sam’s passion and uptake to deliver healthy choices to the NZ market was evident throughout the educational presentation. Information gained from Just Blend will give the students a context to base their business concepts on, in the upcoming NCEA examinations.
Business Management Students Trip to Sanford
Year 13 Otumoetai College Business Management students had the opportunity to visit Sanford, a business operating in a global context. Steve Keeves, Operations Manager of Sanford spent time speaking to the students about innovation, IP, change management, quality control, and external factors influencing the business in a global market. They were given a tour around the business to view many areas of the company to gain an understanding of the operations and size of the Tauranga branch.
This experience creates a wonderful connection between the course that they are doing and the real hands-on world of business. Students quoted “I have come away with a better understanding of the topics we have studied, putting them in context with the business will allow me to easily remember each topic for the examinations”. These field trips have proved invaluable in preparing the students involved to achieve success in their studies. We thank Steve Keeves for his ongoing support.
